Day 42: More Mist

St Magnus Cathedral in the foggy Orcadian evening.
The fog rolled in like a whisper, and stayed for the whole day, softening rooftops and silencing time. And still, St Magnus stood – a shadow of stone in the quiet breath of dusk.

First day back at work, and the day was shrouded in mist for almost the whole day. I love the mist, it makes the world smaller, quieter, more personal. Things feel quieter, closer. I saw the amazing St Magnus Catherdral surrounded by this mist and just had to capture it. I will never EVER tire of taking pictures of this magnificent structure. And sometimes the weather just makes it all the more irresistible.
I love how this picture creates a sense of distance, a sense that the cathedral is too far away, and yet right around the corner.
