Learning photography one pic at a time

Day 33: We’re off to (Nether) Netherlands.

A pedestrian crossing in Maastricht
The world paused on red,
as if the city itself whispered, “Wacht.”
Even in stillness, there’s beauty – a quiet signal in the golden hush of evening.

Day 33 was spent driving from Folkestone to Maastricht via France, and Belgium. We stopped a couple of times to eat and use the services, but otherwise we ploughed on ahead to the Netherlands. We got settled in an easyhotel (which is the smallest room I’ve ever stayed in but it served its purpose), and headed out to eat. We settled in at La Bonne Femme. Honestly? It was lovely. Great staff, great beer, and the most amazing burger I’ve ever tasted in my entire life. I don’t know what they did to it, but it was truly amazing. And well worth returning to Maastricht for alone. But we are going to go back one day for many reasons, that’s just one of them.

My family and I went for a wander to take in the sights and scenery. It’s truly a beautiful city. Once again we had a view of a church from our room, and I might post some random pics in a gallery here once I’m all caught up, but this picture of the traffic lights and the pedestrian crossing really appeals to me. I can’t even explain why. But it’s probably one of my favourites from the whole trip.
