Learning photography one pic at a time

Day 36: Walking The Wall

A view of the timber roof supports above the walkway of the Rothenburg ob der Tauber wall.
Beneath each step, a story. Above each breath, a rhythm of timber and time.
Most eyes face outward, but beauty waits in the places we forget to look.

On this day in Rothenburg ob der Tauber we did a little more exploring of the town, taking photos at the “Monkey Island” part of the town, eating out, and then a little rest. After lunch we decided to walk the medieval wall that surrounds Rothenburg ob der Tauber. The wall is around 2 miles long (we didn’t walk all of that) and offers some truly incredible views. However curiosity struck me as we walked along those narrow walk ways, I raised my camera up and took a shot. This was the outcome, and I love it. There are plenty of photographs of the wall itself, and the spectacular views it offers, to be found online. I didn’t want to add to the hundreds of pics already out there and which are often very similar. I wanted a different view from up here. One that is overhead for most of the walk, yet seldom photographed. So here it is. The timbers of the roof above your head as you walk the wall. And I really like this image, it’s different.
